Job Description

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Technician assists in evaluating, maintaining and improving quality system and manufacturing processes to meet company quality policies and objectives and achieve customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews and interprets product/process drawings, specifications, and other applicable work instructions to determine requirements.
  • Determines quality level of product and processes by inspecting, testing, evaluating data; judging acceptability to requirements; and reporting results in a meaningful manner. Inspections may include, receiving, in process, first piece, or pre-shipment checks.
  • Performs investigations on quality problems found in product and materials through the performance of inspections, tests, and analysis and interfaces with other functional groups to solve/prevent problems.
  • Performs product specific quality planning, process/procedure auditing, and investigates discrepancies. May include developing inspection checklists and gage listings.
  • Provides support for manufacturing in applying quality control techniques.
  • Provides timely processing and control of nonconforming materials including support for obtaining cause, corrective, and preventive actions. Determines acceptability of rework.
  • Ensures maintenance of measuring & test equipment by completing preventive maintenance, safeguarding equipment from damage, trouble-shooting malfunctions, and obtaining necessary repair or servicing.
  • Promotes and maintains a clean & safe work environment by complying with procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Performs duties and tasks defined in applicable procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform other duties & responsibilities as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, 1-3 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using MS Office & related QA software.
  • Experience & training in conducting quality audits.
  • Has a working knowledge of basic machine shop inspection technologies & sound measurement practices and can apply basic statistical process control techniques.
  • Ability to detect & identify typical defects found in materials, those created by outside vendor processes, or induced through machining/assemble processes used by HPS.
  • Working knowledge of statistical sampling, statistical process control, gage studies and statistical analysis
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software
  • Associates degree in related field preferred.
