Description:

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. JP Jin in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Research in the lab focuses on protein structure-function relationships and protein and peptide engineering for biomedical applications. A broad range of experiments and methodology area applied. The recruit will have the opportunity to lead a project focusing on malaria vaccine development with a unique potential to develop a productive career.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Principal Investigator, other researchers, and key personnel to meet research objectives
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data
  • Perform Laboratory experiments
  • Maintain lab notebook with recorded data
  • Publish original scientific research in peer-review journals
  • Present research findings at national/international scientific conferences
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Must have a PhD/Doctorate Degree in chemistry or biochemistry or a related field.
    • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise in malaria and vaccine research.


    The candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry or biochemistry or a related field. Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply: 1) strong self-motivation, 2) strong record of first author previous publications, 3) ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines, 4) good communication skills (writing and oral) and ability to collaborate with others, 5) immunological methods experiences, and 6) animal and cell models of malaria immunization and protection.
