As a UI/UX Designer on the Generac Energy Services team, you will be part of a growing product team developing and delivering innovative, industry-leading, customer-centric solutions and experiences. The Energy Services team is a dynamic, fast-paced business unit with primary offices in Denver, CO, Indianapolis, IN and Vancouver, BC.

As the UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for translating high-level requirements into engaging user experiences. You excel at providing highly analytical as well as highly creative ideas to a design engagement. You are the voice and advocate of the customer experience, constantly sharing data and insights with the team to communicate customer needs, best practices, and new methodologies. You have a curiosity and authentic love for products, people, and user experience.

As UI/UX Designer, you will lead and support user research efforts through teamwork with different departments to validate design directions and conduct on-going usability testing. You will define and maintain the design system for Energy Services solutions in order to provide a cohesive and consistent user experience, and collaborate as part of a larger UI/UX global team on overall corporate-wide design systems. Working closely with product management and multiple scrum teams in an Agile environment, you'll create mockups, wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.

This role will be measured on business goals associated with release of major software capability which delivers new and/or incremental value to market and customers, and on product user experience feedback and scores tied to net promoter score measurements.

This role may require occasional travel for key internal or customer meetings within the US and Canada.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Translate high-level requirements into mockups and wireframes.
  • Create storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
  • Lead and support user research through usability studies and customer feedback.
  • Develop and maintain design systems.
  • Support the Agile lifecycle producing design artifacts to support the development process and flow.

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interaction Design, UX Design, Industrial Design, Human Factors or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in design of commercial software for web/desktop and/or mobile products.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Invision, or similar.
  • A portfolio of software design that demonstrates interaction design skills and visual design for web applications.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks.
  • Ability to execute interaction design as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to consult with internal and external customers and own experience design decisions.
  • Ability to collaborate on user experience planning with product management and solution architects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; approachable to developers and business stakeholders.
  • Effectively act and work independently under the direction of a senior-level leaders.
  • Experience with Design Thinking practices; familiarity with UX research techniques; facilitating cross-functional ideation sessions.
  • Attention to detail through the lens of keeping the big picture in mind.

Compensation:
Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role when based in Denver, Colorado is $95,000 to $125,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short and long term incentives. Hybrid work environment is supported; position locations available in Denver, CO or Vancouver, BC.



Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
