Job Summary

The Assistant OR Associate Athletic Director - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging/Student-Athlete Development will serve as a leader in developing a diverse and inclusive environment in the Athletics Department; and will be responsible for the development and oversight of all Athletic Department's DEI&B initiatives and programming as well as Student-Athlete Development. The DEI&B portion of this position will include implementing DEI&B training and workshops for student-athletes, coaches, and staff; and will monitor and update our most recent NCAA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Review. The Assistant/Associate Athletic Director - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging/Student-Athletes Development will cultivate relationships with other campus units which include International Students and Scholars Services, Financial Aid Office, Enrollment Management and Academic Services, ISU Career Services, University College, NCAA Compliance & Student Services, Dean of Students, University Counseling Center, among others. This individual will oversee the Student-Athlete "Redbirds4Change" committee and will be our NCAA Athletics Diversity and Inclusion designee (ADID). This individual will have the opportunity to be part of the Athletic Director's Senior Staff, work closely with the University's Chief Equity & Inclusion Officer, and will represent Illinois State Athletics on campus and Missouri Valley Conference committees.

The Student-Athlete Development portion of this position will be responsible for the overarching goal to provide each student-athlete with the skills necessary to achieve success in their personal and professional lives beyond their collegiate athletic experiences. This individual will be responsible for creating, planning, and implementing effective leadership, life skills, professional/career and personal development workshops, events, and initiatives for all student-athletes. This will include working with both internal and external partners of our campus to promote the holistic development of our student-athlete population. The Assistant/Associate Athletic Director - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging/Student-Athlete Development will contribute to our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), collaborate with the staff in the Karin Bone Athletics Study Center, partner with campus and department mental health professionals, and others to enhance the student-athlete experience and their overall welfare.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$55,000 - $75,000 annual (see special instructions to applicants section for additional information)

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree.
2. One (1) year of full-time or part-time equivalent professional level work experience in student development, athletics administration, educational leadership, teaching life skills, or related field. A post graduate internship could be used to count toward the one (1) year of experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
2. Two or more (2+) years of experience working in higher education administration or athletic administration.
3. Relevant work experience in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
4. Experience in training/education, group facilitation, program development, and evaluation.
5. Knowledge of NCAA rules.
6. Experience in development, organizing and implementing programming including but not limited to financial literacy, leadership development, life skills, career preparation, and EDIB initiatives.
7. Ability to analyze, write and interpret policies and procedures.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
9. Strong detail-oriented, organizational skills.
10. Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Work Hours

Core work hours 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Frequent weekend and night availability required.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

This search is to fill one vacancy. The working title will be determined based on years of related experience.
A final candidate with three or more years of full-time, related experience will be hired under working title Associate Athletic Director - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging and Student-Athlete Development. A final candidate with less than three years full-time, related experience will be hired under the working title of Assistant Athletic Director - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging and Student-Athlete Development.

The salary range for this position is as follows:
- Associate Athletic Director: $65,000 - $75,000
- Assistant Athletic Director: $55,000 - $65,000
