Job Description

Position Summary:
The Hospice Office Coordinator works with managers and supervisors to ensure efficient office operations and that the administrative needs of management and the department are met. Ensures that data required for clerical or billing operations are entered/communicated. Serves as the Hospice resource for building services and telecommunications within the building, as well as the field. Coordinates day-to-day operations of the office including, but not limited to, supplies and communications. Hours may vary depending upon census and program need.

Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years general office experience preferred.

  • Medical Terminology


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Extensive experience with MS Office and other office software packages. Must be experienced in spreadsheet development. Good understanding of various healthcare software applications and computer hardware. Proficient verbal/written communication skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Answer telephone, take and deliver messages according to department communication standards and workflows.
  • Assists and directs visitors, vendors, medical students, reps, residents and healthcare students with appropriate check-in.
  • Opens and handles all incoming/outgoing mail and distributes to appropriate staff.
  • Processes and distributes all incoming and outgoing expedited packages, courier and internal mail, completing these tasks on a daily basis.
  • Provides administrative, secretarial, and clerical support for department.
  • Supports Hospice Referral/Intake Coordinator as needed in completing Intake and Scheduling functions. Updates Hospice nurse case loads and communicates daily with clinical and non-clinical field staff on any changes.
  • Monitors phone and fax for incoming referrals and coordinates Epic entry.
  • Manages hospice work queues.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
